In this piece the customer was wanting a modern bookcase but not super crazy modern. So I did some research and sent him a couple designs and this is the one he chose. I used cherry mdf and hard wood for the face and the dowels. The dimensions were 48" W x 72" T x 12" D. The customer wanted it a manly purple and gave me the leeway to choose it and this color was the closest I could find. I used glue and biscuits for the joints to give a strong durability so it will last a while. The dowels I used were 1 1/2" thick and cut to 4" to give the modern look but not lose a whole lot of space for shelves.
