Modern Kiln Carved Fused Glass Portrait - La Femme Au Vert Olive
This portrait was created by kiln carving into the back of a 1/2" slab of fused glass. The client provided a photograph of the woman and wanted her done in olive green. By layering fiber paper and adding enamel to the darkest areas, I was able to create a sense of depth in the glass. The fused glass portrait is 12" x 12" and is seated in a slate base that is framed in mahogany. The overall dimensions of this table top sculpture are 13" x 12.5" x 6.5".

Feb 26, 2019This project was a little “off the cuff”...just an idea we had. We didn’t really know what we wanted. Our original thought was a 3-D type of metal statue but Michelle came in with a slightly different take and it was well received by our team. She described her design very well and sent hand drawings to further clarify her idea. We went with her ideas and we are very happy with the end piece. Her idea of kiln-carving part of the design was better than she described! When she was finished, she sent the statue and a personal check since she over estimated the shipping! Honestly, I think her price was TOO INEXPENSIVE for what we received. She communicated many times as the project began to develop and even checked up to make sure it was delivered. I don’t know what my next item that would need to be created is, but I would have Michelle look it over first!
