The customer was seeking an heirloom dining table with great character. Several pictures were shared to select a design that resulted in a metal base with salvaged boxcar floor planks for the top. The base was constructed from steel flat bar that feature decorative hammered edges. A textured, copper-toned powder coat was applied for the finish. The top was made from maple floor planks salvaged from railcars built in the 1920's and 30's. Each plank bore the scars of decades of use and abuse carrying freight across our great country. The planks were assembled to make a dodecagon (12 sided) top that was then surrounded by a walnut ring. The final result was a 72" round top topped off by an independent 32" diameter lazy susan. Mohawk brand Statesman Oak stain and satin catalyzed lacquer were applied for the final finish.

Welcome! I am the owner, operator, designer, sawdust maker and everything else including janitor of this little specialty woodworking business. After a career in the business world, I am now following a passion to create works in and of wood. My goal is to deliver to you, my customer, projects that are done right, meeting (hopefully exceeding) your quality expectations. I began my business in 2008 under the name: North Texas Woodworks. I designed and built tables for kitchens and dining rooms, bookshelves, cabinets and several other furniture items. In late 2014 I had bilateral knee replacement surgery that could have gone better! I was sidelined for about 3 years, but got back to sawdust making in 2018.
Changed the product focus to somewhat smaller items including the lighted "Stream Tables" sized for sofa tables and entry halls. With the change came a different name: Beraht, LLC. Beraht is a German word that can mean bright as well as Bert. Seemed like a perfect fit for lighted tables made by a guy named Bert! Beginning in 2024 I have added parametric wall art to my offerings, both standard designs as well as custom and personalized options. Be sure to check out my custom parametric flags!
I own two large format Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router systems and cut and carve special shapes and designs for individuals and for businesses. I can carve images and text in wood to create signs for your business, decor for your home, and gifts for your friends and family. With this automation, orders can be for an individual or for many repetitive items. Examples of past work include things as different as a carved applique for an antique sewing machine, signs, plaques, countless styles and shapes of art boards for paint and epoxy artists, and even ornate carved panels for residential and business doors.
Let me know how I can use my sawdust making skill to be of service to you.
